Step Through The Portal - Back to the Woods

THE INVITATION

Somewhere along the way, we forgot how to play.

We got busy, we got sensible. We learned to keep our voices down and tuck our wildness away where nobody could see it. We started saving joy for special occasions, like it might run out.

But there is a part of you that still remembers. The child who talked to trees. Who was certain the faeries were real (they are).

Who danced without checking who was watching, and sang just because the fire was warm and the night was long. They never left. They have been waiting in the woods for you to come back.

SECURE YOUR SPOT AT NOL I COED

There is a saying in the old language of Cymru

dod yn ôl at fy nghoed

It means "to come back to my trees."

And it means more than the woods.

It means coming home to yourself.

Back to a calm, steady mind. Back to the version of you that feels whole, playful, and at one with the wild and mythic-world we are all a part of.

That is what this weekend is for.

What is Nôl i Coed?

Nôl i Coed is a weekend in the wild woods of Cymru, spent doing the things our ancestors knew by heart.

Fire and story.

Masks made from the land.

Live music you can feel in your chest.

Dancing. Silence. Poetry by the water.

A circle of people who understand you without much explaining.

It is a return to joy as a spiritual practice.

To play as something sacred. To your own culture, sung and danced and eaten around a hearth.

You do not have to arrive as anything. No experience needed. No polished spiritual self required.

Just you, and the part of you that has been longing for this.

I WANT THIS SOUL DEEP

Your Home for the Weekend

Coed Hills is a place unlike anywhere else, an eco-community spread across more than 100 acres of woodland and countryside, home to its own stone circle built in the early 2000's with sacred intention, a lake, pond, meadow, and a beautiful wooden barn space. There's a woodland classroom, wood-fired saunas, and fire pits ready for ancestral and bardic gatherings under an open sky.

From the stone circle, the view stretches clean across the Severn channel across to Devon, one of those views that stops conversation. Nearby, a forest garden of medicinal and edible plants is tended by the community's own gardeners, one of many quiet things here worth discovering.

Accommodation ranges from quirky cabins and a rustic yurt to cosy pods and a large camping field, with showers, toilet facilities and a wood-fired sauna all on site.

You'll feel the land the moment you arrive. As autumn settles in, the last wildflowers and herbs, the bees and butterflies still on the wing, and the birds overhead all greet you, and the sunsets from the stone circle, as the sun drops low across the valley, are nothing short of magnificent.

The Weekend

Friday - Gather at the Fire

  • We begin the way people have always begun. Around a fire, as the light goes.

You will hear a living story told aloud, woven with sound - a tale of the old relationships between people and the fair folk, the elementals, the small bright beings of joy who share these woods with us.

  • Then the fire opens up to you.

This is where we get to know each other, by sharing our own wildest
brushes with the otherworldly. Everyone has one. You will not be the odd one out here.

Saturday - Make Your Mask, Find Your Wild

  • After breakfast, we go inward before we go making.

Victoria will guide you on a journey through your own inner-mythic landscape, using gentle self-hypnosis and sound to help you meet your Awen, the flowing spirit of inspiration that lives in every one of us. You will meet a part of your own story you may not have met before.

  • Then we make our masks

Working with natural materials and with the help of artists who work with Awen every day, you will craft a mask that carries what you found inside.
Later, the light shifts. You will be called to wait, mask in hand, until the sound of the carnyx, the tall Celtic horn, comes to find you and lead you down into the music.

  • Then we welcome Mwsog, our live ritual band

& you dance. Masked, wild, laughing, moving like the child in you always wanted to. This is the joy we came for.

Sunday - The Quiet Woods

  • Sunday morning we keep in silence, and it is a gift.

We open with a mugwort sound ceremony to settle you, then a slow, sensory walk through the trees where nothing is asked of you but to notice. The smell of moss. The cool of the air. Birdsong. Bark under your fingers.
Out of that quiet comes poetry. You will write, not to be clever, but to catch what the woods gave you. We gather in a circle to share and to be heard, then rest and take the afternoon slow.
As evening comes, we close with fire, weaving your poems from the morning into the flames.

  • The Fire Jam - A Noson Lawen

The last night belongs to everyone.
A surprise storyteller of these lands opens the evening, and then the fire becomes a noson lawen, the old Welsh "merry night" of song, verse and shared talent. Bring your voice. Bring an instrument. Bring the words rattling around in you. This is culture the way it was always meant to be - not performed at us, but made together, around the flames.

I CLAIM MY MAGIC

Why Joy Matters

If you have carried heavy things, you might have learned that joy is frivolous. A treat you have not earned yet.
It is not.
Joy is how we come back to ourselves. It is how the inner child, who often held the hardest parts, finally
gets to feel safe enough to come out and play. It loosens what grief tightened. It reminds your body that it is allowed to feel good.

This weekend gives you permission. To make a mess. To dance badly. To believe in faeries. To sing off-
key at a fire and mean every word. To remember that your culture is not a museum piece, it is alive, and it is yours, and it is fun.
You come back lighter. And you come back more you!

What Others Have Said

— Beckie

"What an incredible retreat. Victoria chose a beautiful place for us to stay. The food was amazing, and Victoria managed to hold space, create deeply impactful rituals and ceremonies, whilst still giving us plenty of time to explore and integrate. I feel absolutely nourished."

— Sophie

"I loved that we were such a diverse group, and I have taken so much away from what was planned, and also just the organic moments and chats too. The flexibility and the way the weekend adapted to the group
allowed for so much more flow and enjoyment."

— Sam

"Victoria has a remarkable grounding presence that instantly put us at ease, and the ambiance was nothing short of magical. We indulged in delicious, freshly prepared meals by her talented husband, which set the perfect backdrop for our gatherings."

— NatalieGrace

"Stella captivates before a word is even spoken. She has mastered the art of crafting an atmosphere that is resonant and receptive to her stories that fill the space with so much life that it is impossible to drift away."
